- Swimmers should follow a diet that is high in complex carbohydrate and low in fat. The Food Guide Pyramid is a useful guide to daily food choices please read the advice below and see whether switching to a healthier way of eating makes a difference to your performance! Make sure you drink plenty of water (all the time not just before swimming)to keep you hydrated. If you are find yourself very thirsty it is too late you are already dehydrated!
