National Championships 2009

Four WFSC swimmers will be in Sheffield this week at the National Youth Championships.

Congratulations to our four swimmers who have achieved National Qualifying Times and who will be competing in the National Youth Championships in Sheffield this week.

Scott Allin (16) and Luke Ladbrooke are the first to go on Tuesday in the 100m Backstroke, Scott will then compete in the 200 Backstroke on Saturday. Fran O'Connor (18) will be competing on Wednesday and Friday in the 100 Freestyle and 50m Freestyle and Eliza Bradley (15) is in the 50m Freestyle on Sunday. Head Coach, John Howles will be with the swimmers all week.

Meanwhile Club member, Amy Smith is in Rome at the World Championships. Good luck Amy.

... Receive School accolades. Both WFSC Club members are honoured by King Charles School for their swimming achievements.
The WFSC Club members received sporting honours from their school, King Charles I, in recognition of their swimming achievements this year.

Hayden Griffiths (12) has had a very successful season and has been selected by Worcester County to swim for them on a number of occasions. Hayden also competed at the Midland & District Regional Championships in June. He received the 'Performer Award for Swimming'.

Scott Allin (16) received the 'Outstanding Achievement Award' for swimming from King Charles for his success at both County and District level and his dedication to swimming training whilst studying for and completing his GCSE's. Scott has had another successful year and is now gearing up for the National Championships in Sheffield later this month. Other Club members, Eliza Bradley (15), Fran O'Connor (18) and Luke Ladbrooke (18) will also be joining Scott in Sheffield.

... are selected for The IPC Swimming World (Short Course) Championships to be held in Rio in December 2009.

Wyre Forest Club Members Fran O'Connor and Claire Cashmore have been selected by Disability Swimming for the IPC World Swimming Championships to be held in Rio de Janeiro in December. Fran has been selected as part of the relay squad.

Head Coach, John Howles said that this is a tremendous, fantastic achievement and that everyone at Wyre Forest is very proud of Fran. Fran has been training extremely hard with the Club and has reached all the targets that have been set for her.

He added that it was a privilege to be around great athletes like Fran and Claire.
