Club Profile
Wyre Forest Swimming Club was formed by the amalgamation of Kidderminster and Stourport Swimming Clubs in March 1998.
Kidderminster Swimming Club had been in existence from the early 1900’s whilst Stourport was formed in the 1960’s.
Both clubs had a rich history of service to the community and have trained children and young adults in the sport of competitive swimming with good results, with many swimmers making the Worcester County, Midland District and National Championships.
WFSC is proud of the traditions inherited from the two clubs and has taken that heritage forward in providing a friendly, supportive and competitive environment for young swimmers in North Worcestershire to flourish.
Since it's formation the club has progressively become more competitive, with the formation of Junior Squads and the number of hours available for the Senior Squad has increased to over 12 hours each week.
An Executive Committee, elected annually at the AGM, administers the club, which is a non-profit making organisation. The committee meets on a monthly basis, usually the 2nd Wednesday in the month. There are three Sub-Committees which meet on "needs" basis:
Swimming
Finance and
Club Championships
Other Sub-Committees are formed when there is a clear requirement to carry out activities outside of the Executive Committee.
A Chief Coach is engaged by the club to take overall responsibility for the swimming and coaching aspects and to ensure that the club's aims and objectives are achieved. He is supported by a group of well-qualified volunteers including an ASA qualified Coaches, Teachers and Assistant Teachers. All classes and training groups are in the care of appropriately qualified staff. Our aim is to encourage each individual to achieve full potential according to personal ambition; depending upon natural talent, ability, level of commitment and, of course, age.
