Ross PGL League 2007

ROUND ONE- Droitwich - 27th January 2007

This was hosted by Wyre Forest. Thank you to everyone, coaches, parents and swimmers, who helped run this event especially Maddie Belsey-Day for being Captain and Katherine Whelan for walking up and down the length of the pool all evening collecting the results.

Results

Although WF came 4th with 129 points this was a very close run gala ending with an exciting cannon won by Wyre Forest.
Ludlow came 1st with 147 points, Ross were 2nd with 133.5 points and Bromsgrove were 3rd with 132.5 points.

There were several new swimmers in the team and everyone swam extremely well. There were over 80 personal best times and 14 1st places. Jessica Charles received a speeding ticket for the girls 11/u 1 lth freestyle with a PB of 16.09

ROUND TWO - Bromsgrove - 24th February 2007

Results

WF came a very close 2nd with 153 points. Stourbridge was 1st with 155 points, Bromsgrove 3rd with 150 points and Pershore was 4th with 76 points. This was an extremely exciting gala with the 3 top teams taking it in turns to lead. All the swimmers competed brilliantly. There were 50 personal bests times with many swimmers competing in their first ever gala. Thanks to the coaches, helpers and officials for their support.

ROUND THREE - 27th April - Ludlow

WF came 1st with 158 points, in second place was Haden Hill with 145 points, 3rd Ludlow with 139 and 4th Pershore with 97.

Well done to all the swimmers, coaches and helpers. Another amazing gala for WF.

ROUND FOUR - 19th May 2007 - Leominster

Congratulations to the Junior team for winning again. The competition between the 1st and 2nd teams was very close throughout the evening but WF came 1st by 2 points with 160 points, 2nd was Abertillery with 158 points, 3rd - 4 Shires with 113 points and 4th - Leominster with 87 points.

All the relays were swum with the 2nd and 4th swimmers starting in the water so the PB's were not as prolific as usual.

There were 4 speeding tickets during the gala from Luke Barnett 10/u 1 lth fly, Jessica Charles 11/u 1 lth free (18.65), Hayden Griffiths 10/u 1 lth free and Lizzie Hall 12/u 1 lth fly.

RESULTS

Results of League after Round 4

FINAL - 16th June 2007 - Gloucester GL1

Wyre Forest competed at the final of the Ross Junior League against very stiff opposition and achieved 6th position with 210 points. Although WF had beaten Ludlow, Bromsgrove and Abertillery in previous rounds we were unfortunately unable to do so in the final. However all the swimmers swam bravely and put on a very exciting gala for the spectators. Out of the 4 rounds in this league WF came 1st in two, 2nd in one and 4th in one. Well done to everyone who contributed to these brilliant results.

Congratulations to Worcester who came 1st in the final with 286 points, 2nd was Cheltenham with 278, 3rd Ludlow - 264, 4th Bromsgrove -  261, 5th Abertillery - 245, 7th Ross - 203 and 8th Stourbridge - 198.

Thank you to all the swimmers who took part in this league, the team spirit has been brilliant. In the final 36 personal best times were achieved and all the  finalists received a medal.

Thanks to Captain Maddie Belsey-Day who has sadly competed in her last Ross gala and to all the people who have helped the club in this league.
