Performance 2 Squad
The Performance 2 Competitive squad (formerly Junior A) takes swimmers from the Junior Development Squad and provides a greater intensity of training designed to improve skills and endurance to form a base for the swimmer to progress.
PERFORMANCE 2 SQUAD CRITERIA
· Swimmers are invited onto this squad from the Development squad by the Performance 2 squad coach after consultation with other coaches, the swimmer and their parents
· The goal of Performance 2 is to prepare the swimmer for Performance 1 squad
· Individual training hours and sessions are agreed between swimmer, coach and parents and monitored every 3 months. These hours are individually set and based on the:
o Age, Ambition and Ability of the swimmer to complete sessions
· A swimmer’s hours will gradually be increased over time in accordance with LTAD after consultation with swimmer and parents. No swimmer will be criticised for not increasing their hours
· As swimmer’s progress they may be invited to train with Performance 1 squad however, no swimmer will be invited to permanently join the Performance 1 squad until they are averaging over 7.5 hours per week and they agree to complete 10 hours pool training per week
· A swimmer’s attendance is monitored against the agreed hours. Swimmers must attain above 90% attendance level compared to their agreed training hours each week over a 3 month period. Attendance figures will be published weekly
· Swimmers are required to represent the club in competitions if selected and agree to attend key competitions if advised by the squad coach
· Over time swimmers should own the following equipment:
o Fins, Floats, Pull Buoys, Drinks Bottle
· All will be issued with “Performance 2” log books which should be signed weekly by the squad coach
· Performance will be monitored by competition results and test sets
